Business E-Mail Compromises (BEC) can have a significant impact on a company’s bottom line. The purpose of this advisory from the U.S. Secret Service, FBI and FS-ISAC is to provide an awareness of the security risks of BEC, an explanation of how it is done, and recommendations for mitigating the risks to your business. The advisory also provides incident reporting information, should that be needed.

Education is your best defense – know what to look for and what to do. If an email seems suspicious or questionable, you do not know the sender, you know the sender but this email is not like other communications from this person or organization, or you were not expecting it, it may be fraudulent.
